YACHT'S CATEGORIES

1- WOODEN YACHTS - TRADITIONAL DESIGN 

In general, high displacement cruising yachts
built with traditional materials and methods.

CATEGORY A 31.50 M. AND OVER
CATEGORY B 26.50 M. – 31.49 M.
CATEGORY C 22.50 M. – 26.49 M.
CATEGORY D 18.50 M. – 22.49 M.
CATEGORY E 16.00 M. – 18.49 M.
CATEGORY F 12.00 M. – 15.99 M.
CATEGORY G 11.99 M AND BELOW

2.- WOODEN YACHTS - CLASSIC DESIGN

In general, yachts classified as classic in international terminology. This category includes yachts of significantly lighter displacement than the above and built for speed.

3.- YACHTS OF NON-WOODEN CONSTRUCTION(as non-competing participants)

All yachts of non-wooden construction that wish to participate in the regatta. these yachts will race in the following categories:

Category A: LOA 15.99 meters and below
Category B: LOA 16.00 meters and above 

 

 

 


THE BODRUM CUP IS AN INTERNATIONAL TRADITIONAL WOODEN YACHT REGATTA ORGANISED SINCE 1989.

ALL WOODEN YACHTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE, WHILE YACHTS OF NON-WOOD CONSTRUCTION ARE WELCOME AS NON-COMPETING GUESTS.

THE REGATTA IS OPEN TO INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPATION BY EVERYONE, FROM EXPERIENCED SAILORS TO ALL THOSE WHO JUST WISH TO SAVOUR AN EVENT THAT COMBINES RACING UNDER SAIL WITH FESTIVITIES ASHORE

SPONSORSHIP AND ADVERTISING DURING THE REGATTA ARE WELCOME.

PRIZES

The Bodrum Cup

The highest award is The Bodrum Cup  presented to the yacht with1998 winners the least penalty points among all yachts competing in all the categories of the Traditional yacht classification. Due to the observance this year of the 75th anniversary of the Turkish Republic, the Bodrum Cup winner will also receive the 75th Anniversary Prize.

The Bodrum Cup Regatta Pennant

The Bodrum Cup Regatta Pennant is awarded to the winner of the Bodrum Cup. The yacht winning the Bodrum cup three times is awarded the permanent possession of the Pennant.

Overall Regatta Trophy will be awarded to the yacht with the least penalty points among all yachts in all categories in all classifications eligible for competition.

First, Second and Third Prizes will be awarded within each category provided that at least five yachts in that category start  in all the legs of the regatta. (First and Second Prizes only will be awarded in those classifications/categories in which at least four yachts start in all the legs of the regatta. First Prize only will be awarded in those classifications/categories in which  three yachts start in all the legs of the regatta.)

Tirhandil Prizes in each category in which at least two yachts of this design start in at least 3 legs of the regatta will be awarded to the yacht of with the least penalty points.

First, Second and Third Gaff Rig Prizes will be awarded to yachts having this type of rigging competing in all the categories of  the traditional design classification. The first prize goes to the yacht with the least penalty points; second and third prizes go to yachts in the ascending order of penalty points. However, yachts of tirhandil hull design are not eligible for these prizes.   

Certificates of Participation will be given to all non-competing yachts which complete all the legs of the regatta.


SPECIAL PRIZES

GUEST CLASS PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded to the first three guest yachts that participate in all of the legs of the Regatta. Evaluation will be made in two categories:

Category A: LOA 15.99 meters and below

Category B: LOA 16.00 meters and above

CHARTER YACHTS CLASS PRIZES

Will be awarded to the charter yachts which race in the categories with 15 and above participation, and which only use the existing sails and not special racing sails like Light Genova.

10-YEAR PARTICIPATION PRIZE

This prize will be awarded to all yachts that this year complete 10 years of participation in the Bodrum Cup Regatta.

VINTAGE WOODEN YACHT PRIZE

This prize will be awarded to a wooden yacht of traditional or classic construction built 50 or more years ago, provided that at least two yachts in this category participate in the Regatta. Yachts of modern (laminate) construction are not eligible.

SHIPWRIGHT'S PRIZE

A prize will be awarded to every shipwright responsible for the construction of  those yachts that place first in their categories.

PRIZES OF MUNICIPALITIES

These prizes will be awarded by the municipalities which are located on the race route.
