Wooden yachts will set sail for the 22nd time to win the Bodrum Cup in the sponsorship of ANT YAPI and MM PROJE.
Bodrum Cup, one of the biggest naval organizations of our country, is one of the few races of the Mediterranean, where yachts sail with passengers on board. It is a “Naval Festival”, where yachts built mostly in domestic boatyards are exhibited in action, taking place continuously for more than 20 years.
This year, the week that Bodrum Cup will be held is generalized as “Bodrum Yacht Festival” and it has been targeted to present the sector to the maximum extent. With the support of Bodrum Municipality, Bodrum Chamber of Commerce and the institutions and organizations in the sector, Bodrum İskele Square and the T Dock will be prepared to host the exhibition of the participating yachts on the sea and products regarding the sector on the land, before Bodrum Cup, during October 16-19. In this area, various activities, such as the exhibition of “Natilus”, research ship of Dr. Robert Ballard, who has discovered the shipwrecks of many historical ships like Titanic, Bismark and Lusitiania, the exhibition of the relics of Ertuğrul School Ship, recovered at the excavations held in Japan and the opening ceremony of Bodrum Naval Museum will be held.
For the past years Bodrum Cup has not only been just a race, but it has also turned into a naval carnival, where hundreds of racers from all around the world meet with the winds of friendship in the wonderful bays of our country. Besides wooden yachts, the cup is open to sailors of all types of yachts, willing to participate in the carnival under the guest category.
Between October 19-24, handicap system will be applied for the first time at the 84 NM, 4 course race. On Sunday, the first “Gulets Shootout” will be held. The first two of each group after the 4 day races will challenge each other in a short track. The dual races of wooden yachts will determine the winner gulets of 2010.
Journalists and TV reporters from many countries, especially from Italy will also attend the regatta.

Here, we meet once again at the 22nd Bodrum Cup International Wooden Yacht Regatta.

Our sails will be filled once again with the winds of friendship. BodrumCup, enhancing its specialty as one of the biggest naval organizations ofthe Mediterranean furthermore, will turn into a festival with many newevents. Bodrum gulets, aimed at friendship, will take this friendship to theother side of the sea this year. Kalymnos course is the most importantinnovation of the cup in its 22nd year. "Gulets Shootout" is also a first.Furthermore, it is a first in the world as well. The most successful twogulets of each class will challenge each other.

Besides the race schedule, the week that is turned into "Bodrum YachtFestival" will enable not only the competitors, but also all the residentsof Bodrum to be a part of the festival. Exhibitions, opening of the museumand entertainments are the most important activities of the festival. Allthese are the most important signals that the first step taken 22 years ago,will bring the future of the yachting sector of Turkey to the highest level worldwide.
