BODRUM MAYOR HELD THE WHEEL IN THE BODRUM CUP
First day of the Bodrum Cup, In Neo Yapi-Engel Völkers Course, the weather has given the sailors hard times. A wind going up to 15 knots surprisingly caused a fast start and an exciting race. Starting from Bodrum to Gundogan, 66 participant boats were accompanied by referees, health teams, support teams and spectators. Only 39 boats could finish the course on time.
Chairman of the organization committee and Era Bodrum Sailing Club stated that they started organizing the race in 1989, in order to promote sailing activity among wooden yachts, and they are happy with the growing interest every year.
Wooden yachts meet once in such a big organization in Turkey, and improvements in yacht building technology get the chance to de displayed.
The Bodrum mayor and Bodrum municipality team raced in Kaya Guneri III, finishing as the first yacht in pink flag group.
After the race, participants had a party at Boncuk beach and a concert lasted until after midnight.
