21st START FOR THE BODRUM CUP INTERNATIONAL WOODEN YACHT REGATTA

The Bodrum Cup has started with the opening ceremony in Milta Bodrum Marina, Ottoman Shipyard. After the briefing, participants and guests met at the cocktail, watching the slide shows of photo artists, Ali Oz and Gulumser Iscelebi. There was also a photo exhibition of Iscelebi's son, Bulut Bozdag. He attended the Cup since he was 10 months old, now 10 years. And during the years he took many photos in the races. The mayor and guests were delighted with his exhibition.

Mr. Erman Aras, chairman of Era Bodrum Sailing Club, gave a speech, thanking sponsors and sailors for their support. Mr. Arkun Demircan later on told about the new regulations will be applied next year in 22nd Regatta. There will be two more cups, for gulets and tirhandil boats after elimination in The Bodrum Cup. First two yachts in Traditional wooden yachts, and in tirhandil yachts will meet in a new race for Karia Cup and Artemisia Cup.

Then the mayor of Bodrum, Mr. Mehmet Kocadon and famous Turkish sailor Sadun Boro, alongwith former Fenerbahce chairman Ali Sen together rang the ship's bell to start all races.66 wooden boats have registered for the regatta, 13 of which has foreign flags.

It was a common night with Bodrum Open Sea Sailing Club, which has started The Race Week two days ago, and they made a prizegiving ceremony for the winners. Group VIP then took the stage to sing best Turkish pop songs and some opera parts.
