THROUGH THE HEAVENLY BAYS OF GOKOVA

First day 68 yachts of 10 which had foreign flags, sailed from Bodrum to Cokertme, a small village near Bodrum. Çökertme has a very clean sand beach for swimming and has many coves that are suitable for yachts to spend the night. Since there is no convenient road for vehicles the cove is more easily reached by sea.  All participants successfully passed the finish line. The wind was at average 15-18 NM. A big rivalry occured between especially wooden yachts.
Dragon Fly, with Maltese flag has become the first in Traditional Wooden Yachts Class, whereas Ilios finished first in Trophy class. Around 1000 participants sail in the race and every evening a different activity will take place. 

At first night more than a hundred yachts anchored in Cokertme Bay including racers, organization boats, and spectators. Famous Turkish textiles brand MUDO presented a great fashion show. Later on the stage has hosted sailors for The Best and The Fanciest Dressed Team Contest.
Participants were cheered by the crowd, as the team of “Melike” was selected the best, team of “Sila” was the fanciest dressed team. Sila team showed up in their American Football suits, their rivals were teams of “Mavi Deniz” with Spanish national dresses and “Grandi” with their pirot costumes. Southern Cross Timer team gave a short bagpipe concert with their Australian hats and a toy cangaroo.

Later on another big band took the stage: Bulent Ozdemir & Nicole. They sang the best songs from Turkish local music and nostalgic songs in Greek, Spanish and English. Spectators were happily dancing in all the songs, especially local songs of Bodrum.
