The Bodrum Cup XVI. has started with the briefing and cocktail on 16th October 2004.
Referees gave the briefing to racers between 17:00 and 19:00.
The cocktail was outstanding, with the attendance of approximately 1500 people. The group included the racers, officials, as well as the guests invited from Greek islands like Rhodes, Patmos and Kalymnos.

Patmos Mayor Grigorios Kamposos, and Kalymnos Mayor assistant Ekaterini Klonari gave speeches, stressing the similarities between Turkish and Greek people, and how should the friendship and cooperation among nations should evolve. They also stated that visits like this must be planned more often in the future.
Later on the folk dances group of Patmos made a marvellous show with Greek music from 12 islands, which ended up with a “Halay”, a common dance of Greek and Turkish people.
Bodrum Mayor assistant Orhan Kavala and Bodrum governor Osman Ekşi have also made speeches, wishing luck and fair winds to participants, also appreciating the attendance of Greek guests.

Apart from them photograph artist Gulumser İsçelebi made a presentation of the Bodrum Cup photos, which she took during the last 15 years’ Regattas.
The Bodrum Cup will come to an end after 5 courses, and the prizegiving ceremony on the 22nd October 2004.
